Location: Poland, Georgia, and other locations (primarily Europe)
Engagement: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP
English: C1
Experience: 5+ years in QA Automation
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior AQA Engineer / Playwright Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright, JavaScript, and TypeScript to join a large international project in the aviation industry.
This is a full-time opportunity with an immediate need, so we are particularly interested in candidates who can join us as soon as possible.
The role combines technical consulting and hands-on test automation, offering an opportunity to influence the client's QA automation strategy while contributing directly to the quality and reliability of their products.
You will join a central Quality Engineering team responsible for several client-facing products. The team currently includes three core automation specialists and is looking for an additional expert to strengthen and scale automation across a growing portfolio of web applications.
Your initial focus will be on assessing the existing automation approach, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping define a scalable testing strategy. Alongside this, you will contribute directly to test automation development and maintenance.
The role involves working with products at different stages of development, from improving existing automation frameworks to building reliable coverage for new functionality. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and can translate their expertise into practical improvements.
What You'll Do
- Assess and improve QA automation: Review existing processes, identify gaps, and recommend practical improvements to the automation strategy.
- Build and maintain automated tests: Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end tests using Playwright, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Expand test coverage: Automate critical user journeys across multiple web applications and ensure reliable coverage of key functionality.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD: Run, monitor, and maintain automated tests within GitLab CI pipelines.
- Improve test reliability: Investigate failed and flaky tests, identify root causes, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with developers, business analysts, manual QA engineers, and product owners to define testable scenarios.
- Strengthen automation infrastructure: Maintain and improve shared testing infrastructure, reusable components, and automation frameworks.
- Keep tests aligned with product changes: Proactively update automation as new functionality is planned, developed, and released.
- Monitor automation effectiveness: Track test results, analyse defects identified through automated and manual testing, and identify opportunities to improve quality.
- Share expertise: Mentor project QA engineers and help them take greater ownership of test automation.
- Provide technical consulting: Prepare and present recommendations to the client's engineering leadership.
- Explore AI-assisted testing: Evaluate and improve automation workflows using GitHub Copilot, Claude, and internal AI platforms.
What We're Looking For
As this role involves presenting technical recommendations directly to the client's engineering leadership, the ability to clearly explain technical decisions, discuss trade-offs, and communicate confidently in English is particularly important.
- 5+ years of professional experience in QA Automation.
- Strong hands-on commercial experience with Playwright.
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end test automation frameworks.
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
- Ability to work with legacy systems, dynamic interfaces, and different UI architectures.
- Strong understanding of testing principles, critical-path prioritisation, and maintainable test coverage.
- Experience troubleshooting test failures, investigating flaky tests, and identifying root causes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- English at C1 level, including confident spoken communication.
- Availability to start as soon as possible.
Nice to Have
- Experience conducting QA automation audits or improving existing testing strategies.
- Experience with AI-assisted test generation, maintenance, or refactoring.
- Knowledge of REST or GraphQL API testing.
- Experience with integration testing.
- Familiarity with Jira and automated defect reporting.
- Previous experience mentoring or training QA engineers.
What We Offer
- Full-time engagement: Join the project as a full-time team member.
- Meaningful technical impact: Help shape the client's QA automation strategy rather than simply maintaining existing tests.
- International collaboration: Work directly with experienced engineers and senior technical stakeholders.
- An engaging aviation project: Contribute to a complex international environment with multiple products and technical challenges.
- Remote work: Work remotely from Poland, Georgia, or other eligible locations, primarily across Europe.
