Senior QA Engineer / QA Team Manager

We are looking for Senior QA Engineer / QA Team Manager to join Itexus team!

Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Performing functional, exploratory, integration, smoke, regression, and E2E testing of APIs, backend services, and integrations.
• Analyzing requirements and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications to define test coverage, risks, dependencies, and automation scope.
• Validating API behavior, integration flows, and data consistency across APIs, databases, and integrated systems, including SQL-based validation.
• Creating and maintaining test scenarios, test data, QA artifacts, repositories, and documentation.
• Investigating and reporting defects with supporting logs, API requests/responses, and other technical evidence.
• Collaborating with development and API teams to improve testability, automation coverage, QA processes, and overall testing strategy.
• Coordinating performance testing and supporting release validation, defect triage, Agile ceremonies, and release-readiness assessment.

Automation (if applicable)

• Designing, developing, and maintaining automated API, integration, and E2E tests
• Maintaining and improving test automation frameworks, reusable QA libraries, regression suites, and CI/CD quality gates.

Team Leadership & QA Management

• Leading and managing a small QA department of engineers distributed across different projects.
• Defining and driving the overall QA strategy, test approach, and quality standards across projects and teams.
• Mentoring, coaching, and developing QA engineers, conducting regular 1:1s, knowledge-sharing sessions, and performance feedback.
• Onboarding new QA team members and helping them integrate into their respective projects.
• Owning release-readiness decisions: aggregating quality metrics, risks, and coverage data to provide recommendations.
• Establishing and improving QA processes, including test planning, defect management, reporting, and root-cause analysis.
• Reviewing test artifacts (test plans, test cases, automation code) and ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Driving automation and CI/CD quality gates adoption, including defining scope, priorities, and measurable KPIs.
• Managing test environments, test data, and tooling strategy, including evaluating and introducing new QA tools and technologies.
• Balancing hands-on testing with leadership duties, staying technically involved while enabling the team to grow.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience testing mobile and web applications, backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and end-to-end user flows (7+ years)
• Strong experience with functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing, including test scenario design and defect investigation.
• Ability to independently analyze requirements, identify risks and gaps in acceptance criteria, and define appropriate testing approaches.
• Experience with JUnit/TestNG, Maven/Gradle, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, SQL, application logs, and browser developer tools.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating closely with the Development team.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, or managing QA engineers, including task distribution and performance management (3+ years)
• Experience coordinating QA efforts across multiple projects or teams simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a proactive approach and ownership of product quality.
• Level of English – Upper-Intermediate and above.
• Hands-on experience applying an AI-first approach to QA, using AI tools to automate routine tasks, improve test design and analysis, and optimize QA workflows.

Will be a plus

• Hands-on experience with test automation.
• Good understanding of microservice-based architectures and distributed application environments.
• Experience maintaining automated regression suites and pipelines and contributing to release-readiness decisions.
• Experience testing systems using message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
