Itexus is looking for an experienced PHP Lead Developer (Laravel) to drive development and lead a small team on a high-load B2B marketplace project. This is a key role combining hands-on development, architecture ownership, and technical leadership.
About project:
A high-load B2B marketplace platform connecting manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers. The system includes complex business logic such as dynamic pricing, personalized offers, logistics flows, and mechanics similar to trading systems. The platform operates on large-scale data (OLTP + OLAP) and requires strong expertise in performance optimization, database design, and system scalability.
Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of PHP (PHP 8+);
- 3–5+ years of commercial experience with Laravel;
- Experience in a Senior or Lead role;
- Advanced PostgreSQL skills: complex SQL queries, query optimization, indexing, transactions and understanding of isolation levels;
- Strong experience working with large datasets: heavy query optimization, efficient pagination strategies;
- Solid understanding of queues and asynchronous processing;
- Hands-on experience with Redis and RabbitMQ;
- Strong experience designing and building REST APIs;
- Experience working with Git via CLI;
- Experience with Docker;
- API documentation skills (Swagger / OpenAPI);
Leadership & architecture:
- Experience managing a team (2–5 engineers);
- Experience conducting code reviews and establishing development standards;
- Experience working with stakeholders;
- Ability to decompose tasks and estimate timelines;
- Hands-on experience in system architecture design (microservices is a plus).
Responsibilities:
Technical:
- Develop and evolve backend services using PHP / Laravel;
- Design and scale REST APIs;
- Optimize SQL queries and handle large volumes of data;
- Manage transactions and ensure data consistency;
- Implement efficient data processing and pagination strategies;
- Work with queues and asynchronous processing (RabbitMQ, Redis);
- Contribute to microservices architecture;
- Integrate with external systems (payments, logistics, ERP, etc.).
Leadership:
- Lead a small team of 2–4 developers;
- Plan sprints and distribute tasks;
- Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality;
- Collaborate with business stakeholders on requirements and solutions;
- Establish and improve development processes and standards;
- Drive refactoring and reduce technical debt.
System improvement:
- Optimize system performance (API, database, integrations);
- Improve reliability of integrations (retry strategies, error handling, monitoring);
- Enhance system observability.
Will be a plus:
- Experience writing automated tests (PHPUnit);
- Understanding of CI/CD processes;
- Experience with Kubernetes;
- Experience with ClickHouse or other OLAP systems;
- Experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, Loki, Sentry);
- Experience working with high-load systems.
