About the role

We are looking for a Senior AQA Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright, JavaScript, and TypeScript to support a large international client in the aviation industry.

The role combines technical consulting with hands-on automation work. At the initial stage, you may join us on a part-time or project basis to assess the client’s current QA automation approach, identify improvement opportunities, and help shape the future automation strategy.

Depending on the project’s development and mutual interest, the cooperation may later evolve into a full-time role.

You will join a central quality engineering team responsible for the reliability of several client-facing products. The current team includes three core automation specialists, and we are looking for an additional expert who can help scale and improve automation across a growing portfolio of applications.

You will work across multiple web products at different stages of development, helping improve the quality, reliability, and scalability of automated testing. The role requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly understand complex systems and propose practical improvements.

What you will do

• Assess existing QA automation processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Automate critical user journeys across multiple web applications.
• Run and monitor automated tests through GitLab CI pipelines.
• Investigate failed and flaky tests, identify root causes, and implement reliable fixes.
• Work with developers, business analysts, manual QA engineers, and product owners to define testable scenarios.
• Maintain and improve shared testing infrastructure and reusable automation components.
• Proactively update tests when product changes are planned or released.
• Track automation effectiveness and analyse defects identified through automated and manual testing.
• Mentor project QA engineers and help them take greater ownership of automation.
• Support the preparation and presentation of technical recommendations to the client’s engineering leadership.
• Explore and improve AI-assisted testing workflows using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and internal AI platforms.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation.
• Strong commercial experience with Playwright.
• Solid knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
• Ability to work with legacy systems, dynamic interfaces, and different UI architectures.
• Strong understanding of testing principles, critical-path prioritisation, and maintainable test coverage.
• Experience investigating failures and identifying root causes.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• English at С1 level.

Because the role may involve presenting recommendations directly to the client’s engineering leadership, strong spoken English and the ability to explain technical decisions confidently are especially important.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting QA automation audits or improving existing testing strategies.
• Experience with AI-assisted test generation or refactoring.
• Knowledge of REST or GraphQL API testing.
• Experience with integration testing.
• Familiarity with Jira and automated defect reporting.
• Previous mentoring or training experience.
