Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM) is a subnetting method used in computer networking to divide an IP network into smaller subnetworks of varying sizes. Unlike fixed length subnet mask (FLSM), which assigns a fixed number of IP addresses to each subnet, VLSM allows for a more efficient utilization of IP addresses by assigning variable lengths of subnet masks to different subnets within the same network.
